Calendar import, step by step

Bring your important dates.

A calendar file can bring together meetings, deadlines and reminders from elsewhere. Review the contents before adding them in AutoDay.

What is an ICS file?

ICS is a common format for moving calendar events between services. A .ics file can contain times, all-day activities, recurring events and reminders. What it includes depends on the calendar that exported it.

Import your calendar

  1. Export a calendar file. Find export or download in your current calendar and save a .ics file.
  2. Open Import in AutoDay. Select the saved file.
  3. Review the preview. Check dates, times, time zone and warnings. Choose the same source when updating an earlier import.
  4. Confirm. Nothing is added until you approve.
  5. Check the result. Open Calendar and Deadlines. Use Reminder check if the file contains alarms.

An everyday example

A calendar file contains a Tuesday meeting and an important Friday date. After previewing and importing, see both beside your own activities. The preview helps you spot anything that needs checking before approval.

When the source calendar changes

An imported file is a snapshot. AutoDay does not automatically retrieve later source changes. Export a new file and select the same import source to update it.

If a time looks wrong, compare the file’s time zone and original calendar with AutoDay’s settings. Review warnings or unreadable parts before continuing.

Export and backup

Import also offers export and backup. Calendar export helps move entries elsewhere. AutoDay’s own backup keeps more app data and settings.
